Pastoral Support

At West Moors Middle School, we are committed to supporting the wellbeing and personal development of every child. As part of our pastoral care, we are fortunate to have two dedicated spaces that help us provide the right support at the right time.

Our Student Support Hub offers a calm and purposeful environment where students can pause and reflect on their behaviour choices. With guidance from a member of our Student Support Team, pupils are encouraged to pause, reflect and reset   and make positive choices moving forward.

Our Nurture Hub provides a warm and welcoming space, primarily used for ELSA sessions and for pupils who may benefit from a short break from the classroom. It offers a supportive environment where students can regulate, refocus, and return to their learning feeling calm and ready to engage.

Outside our Nurture Hub, you’ll find our Worry Post Box — an additional safe place where students can post a note if something is worrying them or if they’d like to talk to a trusted adult. The box is checked regularly by the Pastoral Team, who will make sure someone follows up to offer support and a listening ear. This gives every student the chance to share their worries privately and get the help they need.

Pastoral Support

Our Pastoral Team run drop-in sessions twice a day, giving students the opportunity to talk to a trusted adult about any worries or concerns they may have. Whether it’s something happening in school or outside of school, the drop-ins offer a safe and supportive space where students can be listened to and helped to find a positive way forward. No problem is too small — we’re here to help.

Online Worry Box

At West Moors Middle School, we understand that sometimes it’s not easy to talk about worries face to face. Our Online Worry Box gives students a safe and confidential way to share any concerns they may have — big or small. Whether it’s about school, friendships, or something at home, students can use the online form to let a member of the Pastoral Team know how they’re feeling. Every message is checked regularly, and a trusted adult will follow up to offer support and help find a way forward.
