Working in partnership within our community is a fundamental part of what makes West Moors Middle School so special. We work with some wonderful partners, maintaining supportive friendships that benefit the children, staff and our school in the community and beyond which we are extremely proud of.
Excitedly, this year we are working in partnership with the Jon Egging Trust.
The Jon Egging Trust was set up in memory of Flt Lt Jon Egging, who tragically lost his life whilst completing a display at the Bournemouth Air festival in 2011.
Their mission is to help young people achieve their full potential and give children opportunities that they might have not had. They run workshops in schools that are designed to help children develop their leadership, communication and team building skills. The Jon Egging trust also delivers assemblies to help inspire children to aim high and achieve their goals.
Through the Jon Egging Trust, from January 2021, fifteen Year 8 pupils will be taking part in the Blue Skies Inspire programme, who will work with them and lead assemblies over the next few months.

The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF) honours the life of Lt John ‘JT’ Thornton RM, from Ferndown, Dorset, who was tragically killed in southern Afghanistan on 30th March 2008.
John lived his dream and died doing the job he loved. The aim of the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation is to encourage and assist young people to ‘climb as high as they can dream.’
The JTYAF supports young people from a wide range of youth organisations providing them with scholarships and bursaries to support their personal development and the pursuit of their ambitions. Recipients of the Charity’s Young Achievers Awards are selected for their demonstration of the Foundation’s key values: courage, determination, unselfishness and cheerfulness in adversity.
Since its formation in 2008 the JTYAF has made awards to over 800 young people which total £310,000.
In 2015 a staggering £75,000 has been allocated for awards which is an increase in the amount available in 2014 and will enable more young people to benefit from support.

Education is not just about how one school works but about how we work with other schools in our local community; this is our Ferndown pyramid. A coherent and cohesive education that covers a child’s entire education, from first to middle to upper, leads to greater progress, achievement and enjoyment.
We are proud to work with our Pyramid schools, to develop curriculum areas, moderate assessments and continue to strengthen our partnerships to support all children in our community.
